About this journal
This is the journal for my translations of figure skating articles from Russian into English. Most of them can also be found on Golden Skate - a wonderful site that I recommend to all figure skating fans. If you would like to suggest an article for me to translate - please feel free to do so here. Sometimes, I will also post here translations from English into Russian.

Occasionally, I will also post here my reviews of the shows I've seen live. Those entries will have "PTICHKA REVIEW" in the title.

Enjoy!

P.S. I have now had to disable anonymous comments due to extreme number of spam messages received.

OMG, so thrilled to have found this journal -- it seems like so much of the gossip news never makes its way to English-speaking fans. Thank you so much for taking the time to translate and share with all of us!

I'm friending you, and would you mind if I pimped this journal to other skating fans who might enjoy it?

Hello!
You do wonderful work!

I just want to ask, can you translate and make subtitle to the video of the "Russian Stars on Ice = Ice age show? There are a lot of video on youtube (wwhitecrow uploaded every episode) and a lot of people love it from all over the world, who doesn't speak russian, and they beg for a translation.
At least the gist of what the stars said about their partners, and Tarasova's speach.

Thank you very much for all your translations (and sorry about my bad English).

And Russia has very good skaters :) We love them so much :)

Glad you're enjoying my translations.

I will certainly look at the youtube clip. I can't promise anything, though, because translating clips tends to take a VERY long time. It's much harder than translating written articles. But I will see what I can do :)

Oh, thank you, thank you!
We are waiting and hoping.
We'd be happy, if you translate every second or third sentence, abbreviated. But I know, it's a hard work, so I understand, if you don't want to do it.

Hi, ptichka!
I like your figure skating translations very much.

Could you translate to English the last update from Oleg Vassiliev's blog?
http://icestars.ru/?cat=67
Thanks in advance.

Janny.

Your comments on Russian athlete training
This site offers more diverse insight on Russian athletes and the Figure Skating Federation than I ever thought could be found in one place! Thank you so much for taking the time to share all this information with us.
Yesterday, while I was browsing through your articles, you had stated that you had repeated requests to explain details of the training conditions in Russia. Today I was unable to find that statement or your explanation, if it has been written. Please advise if it is to be found at this time. Cheryl

Re: Your comments on Russian athlete training
Glad you enjoy my site!

I am not really sure what you're alluding to... Perhaps it was in some translation that I did?

Re: Your comments on Russian athlete training
I'm sorry that i was not clear. More concisely, is there information on your site or elsewhere that explains the Russian training technique? For example, ballet, on ice, off ice, strength training, as well as mental focus for consistently training hard to be the best in competition.
I particularly enjoy ice dancing and notice the quality of their skating is usually a notch above the rest.

Domnina-Shabalin Led Magazine Article
Hello!
First of all thanks for all your wonderful work!
I've been using some of it (with credit) on
Domnina-Shabalin's official website
http://en.domnina-shablin.ru

I was wondering if you would consider translating their interview from Léd Magazine
http://domnina-shabalin.ru/publ/1-1-0-120

Cheers!

Hi!
I live in the US and I don't speak Russian. Could you translate the LED magazine article about Elena Berezhnaya?
Thanks!
